Leigh Clayden

CeMAP, Dip PFS

Leigh started the company in 1994, having spent 18 years with a major UK insurance company Guardian Royal Exchange as a senior sales consultant. He holds additional specialist qualifications set by the Chartered Insurance Institute, which enable him to offer the highest level of advice on pension transfers, pension fund withdrawal and all areas of retirement planning, including Self Invested Personal Pensions (SIPP).

This allows the firm to offer advice in all areas of SIPP planning including commercial property purchase. Leigh also specialises in investment and inheritance tax planning advice.

Leigh’s daughter Gemma works as an Administrator and his son Ashley has recently joined the company as a trainee Financial Adviser having spent many years working in the City for well-known companies such as Legal & General Investment Management, Standard Life Investments and 7IM.

Ashley Clayden

Leigh’s son Ashley joined Clayden’s in October 2019.  Ashley studied Business Management at the University of Birmingham and qualified as an adviser in January 2021.  With a consultative and open approach to understanding clients’ financial planning needs, Ashley draws on 10 years’ experience in his previous client facing roles at Legal & General Investment Management, Standard Life Aberdeen and 7IM.

Acting as an Independent Financial Adviser is Ashley’s primary role, but he also carries out the research and due diligence required for building and maintaining the Clayden Financial Investment Proposition; using knowledge acquired from his previous roles, as well as his Investment Management Certificate (CFA) qualification.

Early in his financial adviser career, Ashley is keen to develop long standing relationships with clients, helping them to reach their financial goals.

Martin Cornell

Martin joined the firm in 2008, having become an Independent Financial Adviser in 2005. Prior to this he had spent 21 years in financial services working for well-known UK companies such as Standard Life, Aviva and Barclays.

He is highly skilled, holding specialist qualifications in pensions, investments, taxation, trusts, long term care and equity release, enabling him to give full and in-depth advice. He has SOLLA accreditation (Society of Later Life Advisers). Those advisers who have taken the further steps necessary to become independently accredited by SOLLA can offer the added reassurance that they provide the practical help and guidance needed to help clients make the right decisions at the right time.

Adrian Firth

Adrian joined Clayden Financial in September 2013, following 10 years’ service at an award winning regional Chartered Accountancy firm, where he was the Head of Financial Planning and Compliance Officer.

Over the past 27 years he has built an unrivalled reputation for providing impartial advice that is easy to understand. He is dedicated to the financial wellbeing of every client and, after identifying their needs and goals, will recommend suitable and achievable solutions.

With a wealth of knowledge and specialist qualifications in pre and post retirement planning, investments, taxation, mortgages (buy to let and residential), long term care, equity release and lifetime mortgages, Adrian often identifies planning areas that may have previously been overlooked and, as a result, has built long term relationships with his clients and their families.

He holds a Diploma in Financial Planning and a Statement of Professional Standing from the Chartered Insurance Institute and has written articles for the finance section of local publications.
